When we first met the Virtua Health Foundation (VHF) team, it was clear they were serious about making a difference in their community. Driven by a desire to do more good, they came to us with a challenge: Modernize the existing VHF website and make it easier for more people in the community to get involved in their mission. We answered that challenge by delivering a site that isn’t just an ode to the organization’s passion, but a functional, effective tool to maximize the Foundation’s impact.
Capturing the Vibrance of a Beloved Brand
The Virtua Health brand is well known throughout Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. With such strong brand equity, it made sense to reinterpret existing visual elements for use in the new web design. With this approach, we took advantage of existing brand recognition while creating a fresh, new design that matched the organization’s personality: inclusive, passionate, and engaging.
Putting Gratitude Into Action
One of the primary goals for the new web design was to make it easier for people to donate. Improving the existing UX was an exercise of addition by subtraction. By stripping down the experience and making pathways clearer, people are now more likely to learn about and contribute to Virtua’s mission.
Accessibility Without Compromise
Challenge is the precursor to innovation. Building ADA-compliant websites is often a challenge for designers and developers that can add a layer of constraint. Our team accepted the challenge and created an accessible site that doesn’t compromise on style, because beautiful and functional websites should be usable by everyone.
Expand Your Impact by Showing It
We built a section on the new Virtua Health Foundation site dedicated to telling the story of the organization’s impact. While it may feel natural for a philanthropic organization to stay humble about their work, promoting impact in a simple and compelling way helps potential donors and partners understand where their donations are going, and encourages them to continue to give in the future.
