01
Discovery & Research
Before redesigning the website, we needed to better understand the people using it and the challenges SAE was trying to solve. Through workshops, audits, and collaborative conversations with stakeholders, we explored how different audiences interact with the organization and where the current experience was falling short.
02
Web Strategy
With a clearer understanding of SAE’s audiences and goals, we developed a web strategy focused on simplifying the experience, improving engagement, and creating a stronger foundation for future growth.
Building a More Connected Digital Experience
We approached the SAE website as an active tool for recruitment, alumni engagement, chapter support, fundraising, and organization-wide communication. Rather than mirroring SAE’s internal structure, we reorganized the website around the needs of their core audiences, simplifying navigation and making key resources easier to find. The strategy also prioritized flexibility, giving SAE’s team a platform they could easily update, highlight new initiatives, and keep current over time.
Turning an Organizational Sitemap Into an Audience Experience
The original website sitemap had grown around SAE's internal structure, making it hard for visitors to find what mattered to them. Resources, events, and operational content were scattered across disconnected sections, forcing audiences to navigate the organization instead of their own goals. We redesigned the website around clearer audience pathways like Join SAE, Alumni, SAE Foundation, and The Brotherhood. Consolidating overlapping content and creating more intentional user journeys gave the greek organization a stronger foundation for future growth, engagement, and content management.
03
Web Design & Development
With the strategy in place, we translated SAE’s values, personality, and goals into a visual experience designed to feel more modern, welcoming, and connected while still honoring the organization’s history and traditions.
Designing a More Modern Brotherhood
The visual direction balances heritage with progress. Building on SAE's recognizable purple, we developed a bolder visual identity using strong typography, high-impact photography, and modular layouts to create an experience that feels dynamic and emotionally engaging while staying easy to navigate. We also moved away from stereotypical fraternity imagery, focusing instead on leadership, belonging, mentorship, and community. Moments of energy and movement throughout the design reinforce SAE as an active, evolving organization rather than one rooted only in tradition.
Bringing The Record Back Into the SAE Experience
Originally housed on a separate domain, The Record Online felt disconnected from the main SAE website. We brought it into the primary website experience to simplify navigation, strengthen SEO, and consolidate traffic under a single domain. The website redesign made stories easier to discover and more visually engaging, with improved filtering, bold editorial typography, and dynamic layouts. The Record Online became more than a news feed. It became an active tool for showcasing brotherhood, leadership, philanthropy, and chapter impact across the organization.
SAE was a project we were genuinely excited about. Getting to work alongside their team to untangle years of accumulated content and rebuild something that better served their members, alumni, and donors was the kind of challenge we love. The end result is a website that feels as strong as the organization behind it.
